Marc M Cogman’s fourth album, Albatross is a masterpiece of confessional lyric-writing atop a blistering mix of folk, punk, rock, and Americana. A throwback to the age when albums functioned as whole stories told song by song and chapter by chapter, Albatross tells the true story of Cogman’s tumultuous years of personal tragedy, finally leading to his leaving Los Angeles behind and living on the road.
The first record made after leaving his home base of Venice, CA (and without long-time collaborators The Dead Messengers and producer Justin Siegel), it is easily the least well known of Cogman’s releases. However, this concept album is - perhaps - his finest work.
